Meet our founder, Amber Jean
Amber Jean brings over 26 years of experience to her teaching and teacher trainings. She is the founder of Yoga Ah Studio in Cincinnati, which she has owned and operated for over 18 years, and the founder of Rocket Yoga Academy, a global school offering yoga teacher trainings worldwide.
Known as a true “teacher of teachers,” Amber has led trainings across the U.S. and internationally, including England, Ireland, Italy, Vancouver, San Francisco, New Mexico, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.
Lineage & Training
Amber was among the first Rocket Yoga instructors in the United States after completing her teacher training in May 2000 with Larry Schultz, founder of Rocket Yoga. She later assisted Schultz in his intensive trainings for over a decade and was personally authorized by him to lead her own Rocket trainings prior to his passing in 2011.
She has also studied classical Ashtanga Yoga with:
Indu Bhardwaj
Tim Miller
Lino Miele
Chuck Miller
Maty Ezraty
She credits Larry Schultz as her most influential teacher.
Emerson Yoga
Due to trademark limitations around “Rocket Yoga,” Amber now teaches her evolved method, Emerson Yoga — a dynamic blend of:
Traditional Ashtanga structure
The playfulness and intensity of Rocket
Cross-training principles for strength
Intelligent sequencing and alignment
Pranayama and yoga philosophy
The healing and spiritual dimensions of practice
She has also developed accessible variations including Medicine Rocket and Bottle Rockets, both offered at Yoga Ah Studio.
Teaching Philosophy
Amber is deeply passionate about guiding teachers through:
Intelligent sequencing
Functional alignment
Breathwork (pranayama)
Yoga philosophy
Living yoga as a lifestyle
Her approach balances discipline with creativity, strength with restoration, and tradition with accessibility.
Motherhood & Continuing Education
Amber raised two sons alongside her yoga journey — often with her children present in her early classes — and is now a grandmother.
During motherhood, she completed Prenatal Yoga training at Yogaville and later pursued Restorative Yoga training, expanding her understanding of yoga as a lifelong and supportive practice.
Global Reach
Throughout her career, Amber has traveled extensively, sharing her trainings and immersing herself in different cultures and traditions. Her mission remains the same: to make yoga accessible, empowering, and rooted in both integrity and joy.
