New Class Offering: Pilates Meets Stretch: Why Cross Training Matters for Yogis

Yoga is a lifelong practice, but even dedicated yogis benefit from exploring other modalities. That’s where cross training comes in — and at Yoga Ah, we’re excited to introduce a new class that blends two powerful practices: Pilates and Stretch.

The Dichotomy: Strength Meets Release

Pilates and Stretch might seem like opposites, but together they create a balance that every body craves.

  • Pilates builds strength from the inside out. With a focus on core engagement, alignment, and control, it helps yogis protect their joints and improve posture both on and off the mat.

  • Stretch provides the counterbalance. Long, supported holds and mindful release encourage muscles to lengthen, tension to dissolve, and nervous system to settle.

When practiced together, these two approaches form a dynamic yin-yang: power and softness, activation and surrender.

Why Yogis Need Both

Many yogis find themselves excelling in flexibility but struggling with stability — or the reverse. Cross training with Pilates and Stretch helps bridge that gap:
